Place in heavy pot. Saute over low to medium heat in <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Butter <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>until onion is translucent, stirring constantly. Do not let garlic brown. Add<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>6 c chicken broth <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 bay leaf <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 tsp rosemary in cheesecloth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Simmer about 20 minutes, stirring often. \u00a0Add<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 loaf sourdough French bread, sliced, with crust<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Simmer until bread is very soft. Remove bay leaf and rosemary. Puree in blender or food processor. Strain. Stir in<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/2 pint whipping cream<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Rewarm \u00a0but do not boil.
